Philip John Turner - Seth : A Misrepresented God In The Ancient Egyptian Pantheon?
Since the study of ancient Egypt first came into fashion, its religion has occupied a major role. Writers have either included chapters on the religion within their books (Gardiner 1961, Mertz 1964, Oakes and Gahlin 2002) or devoted whole books to the subject of the gods and myths of ancient Egypt (Hart 1986, Armour 2001, Pinch 2002, Gros de Beler 2004) or to Egyptian religion (Hornung 1971, Assmann 2001). With several hundred deities mentioned by the ancient Egyptians this is not surprising and some authors have even devoted entire books to one particular deity and their role in the religion (e.g. Witt 1971, Bleeker 1973, Roberts 1995).
